This is a variation on our previous schedule from 1.5 months ago. Most things are the same, but there are a few key changes because the kids got older and certain things just weren't working for us (like the 1pm naptime was never on time because Daddy comes home for lunch at 12:30pm which was a disruption).
Key changes:
- My 7.5 month old made the transition from 3 to 2 naps, hooray!!
- The 1pm naptime simply doesn't work with my husband's schedule so we moved it to 2pm which is much more doable, plus my 3 year old seems ready for it by 2pm.
- The 7.5 month old has also begun playpen time when we realized he had never been left to his own devices and would suddenly cry when we did try! Oops, but easily remedied at such a young age. Though playpen time is technically scheduled for 30 minutes, only 10-15 minutes of that is actual playpen time, we work very gradually up to 30 minutes. The rest of that block he hangs out with me.
- Sibling Playtime has been added after lunch. Now that the boys share a room they adore each other and actually interact a bit. My 3 year old has shown himself to be very gentle, concerned with his brother's welfare, and good at coming to me when there's an issue (like little brother gnawing on his train track). So we're just now scheduling specific time for them to play together, with the same toys, under my supervision. For now I am right in the thick of things mediating but over time I'll back off and let them handle things themselves more. This is our time to focus on skills like sharing and treating each other with love and kindness.
